Allison Cohen joined Pediatrics Plus in 2004 and is board certified in pediatrics. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School. She returned to her home city, New York,for residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital and stayed there in private practice until joining Pediatrics Plus. Her interests include skiing, traveling, the applied arts, and spending time with her two daughters. Her husband is an orthopedic surgeon based in New Haven.
Emily Kovar grew up in Milford, CT. She received her B.A. in Biology from Middlebury College with a minor in Spanish and her M.D. from Loyola University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Rush University in Chicago and is board certified in pediatrics. Before joining Pediatrics Plus in 2014, Emily previously worked as a pediatric hospitalist in suburban Chicago and then at a community health center in Fairfield county. She is fluent in Spanish. Emily enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two daughters, traveling, knitting, and being outdoors.
Zena Scates has been a co-owner of Pediatrics Plus since 2015. She received her B.A. in psychology from Washington University in Saint Louis and her M.D. from Saint Louis University. She completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and then joined Pediatrics Plus in 2009. She is board certified in pediatrics, and is especially interested in nutrition and obesity management. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, three children, and dog.
Stephanie Slattery has been a co-owner of Pediatrics Plus since 2015. She received a B.A. in English from Williams College and a M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She then moved to New Haven for residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She joined Pediatrics Plus in 2005 and is board certified in pediatrics. In her spare time, she loves to weave and is a member of the Handweavers' Guild of CT. She is an avid reader and theatergoer. She loves to bake but does not like to cook., so she is grateful that her husband does. She and her son love to play board games and debate which incarnation of Doctor Who is their favorite.
Alicia Soto is a native of Fairfield, CT where she lives with her husband, two high school-aged children, two dogs, a cat and a lizard. She received a B.A. in International Relations from Tufts University, and her M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School. Alicia completed her residency at the University of Minnesota and is board certified in pediatrics. She joined Pediatrics Plus in 2015 and brought with her more than 15 years of experience in caring for children. She loves working with families of all types but has a special fondness for kids with unique medical and developmental needs. Her favorite things are being with her family, history, digging in the garden and a good farmer’s market.
Katie (Brown) Limauro received her B.S.N. at Sacred Heart University in 2011 and her F.N.P. with a Doctorate of Nursing from Quinnipiac University in 2017. She spent the 2016-2017 academic year in our office as a nurse practitioner student and joined Pediatrics Plus as a clinician in 2017. Katie worked as a registered nurse prior to becoming a nurse practitioner and has over five years of clinical experience in postpartum, newborn, and NICU care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, and pets as well as traveling, running and being outdoors.
Marci Panapada received her B.S.N. from the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing in 2004. She then graduated with her M.S.N. as a family nurse practitioner from Yale School of Nursing in 2006. She is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Before coming to Pediatrics Plus in 2013, Marci worked at a community health center in Bridgeport. She has a special interest in lactation and received her Lactation Consultation Certification in 2008. Marci runs the Pediatrics Plus’ Mommy & Baby Support Group. She is proficient in medical Spanish. Marci enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters and their dog, as well as walking, reading and music.
Stefania Pellegrino received her M.S.N. as a family nurse practitioner from Quinnipiac University in 2011. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Stefania joined Pediatrics Plus as a nurse practitioner in 2011. Prior to that, she worked at Pediatrics Plus as a receptionist and then as a nurse. She is a board certified asthma educator and is also trained in administering allergy skin testing. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, music and spending time with her husband and family.
Paula Masto Smith received her B.S. at Boston University in 1997. She then graduated with her M.S.N. from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University. She is board certified by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP). Paula has worked in pediatric primary care since 2006 and joined Paediatrics Plus in 2014. When she is not spending time with her work family, Paula enjoys traveling, volleyball, and relaxing with her husband, family, friends, and her basset hound named Neice.
Cristina Zurlis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for working with youth. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her master's degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University. Cristina's experience includes working with youth with extensive trauma histories, depression, and anxiety. When not at work, Cristina can be found spending time with her son, husband, and two dogs. She also loves spending time with her extended family, hiking, reading, and laughing.
